New Shed
Site Prep
There’s a lot to consider when prepping a site for a new shed. Here are some key ideas to get started:
Site Survey & Assessment:
Conduct a shed site survey to analyze terrain, soil conditions, drainage, and any existing structures, including those that may be underground.
Clearing & Grading:
Remove any unwanted vegetation, debris, or obstacles. Grading ensures proper water drainage and a stable foundation.
Ground Site Preparation:
Suggest a minimum of 6 inches of ¾ crushed stone under the shed, including an additional 12 inches beyond the shed perimeter. This will minimize moisture penetration into the shed’s sills and floor, and discourage critters from making a residence underneath the shed – they don’t like walking or crawling on the sharp edged ¾ inch stone.
Utilities & Access:
Plan for utility connections like water and electricity. Ensure equipment and truck deliveries are feasible on existing roads and driveways.
